How to select a granite fabricator
When it comes to selecting a granite marble or Silestone fabricator, we know the selection is abundent in many areas. With a little investigation, you will find that not all granite fabricators are on the same level. So how do you know which fabricator to hire for your granite countertops? Here we will provide you with a few tips to find the perfect granite fabricator for your project.
Google is your friend
Many will search the for granite fabricator online and call down a list. Before calling them, do a little research on each company. Type in the company’s name in a Google search and see what type of information pops up. You shouldn’t have a problem finding good reviews on well established companies. Also, verify that the company has a fabrication facility and is just not established on the tailgate of their truck.
How much does granite cost per square foot?
Calling a list of fabricators and asking how much per square foot is like going into a dealership and asking what a car cost by the pound. If a granite company can quote you a square foot price without getting any idea on the scope of the project…BEWARE! It’s either a “bait and switch” tactic or you might be setting your self up to be disappointed. Even though price will come into play, work on building a relationship first and learn about who your letting in your house.
Being prepared to get your countertop estimate
For a faster estimate, be prepared with a sketch and dimensions of your project. A couple pictures of your kitchen help too. This is information you can email companies to get you a pretty good estimate. There might be some details that your still not sure about such as: material color, edge details, sink type, etc. However, this initial information will get you a good estimate number.
Ask questions about your granite fabricator
Once you have narrowed your search down, don’t be afraid to ask questions. First, make sure they are insured and get a “Certificate of Liability”. That certificate will tell you what they are covered to do. One common mistake by homeowners is letting granite fabricators do plumbing work. Hire the appropriate insured contractors for each phase of the job. If possible, ask for references and jobs you might be able to walk thru. Although pictures are nice, I’ve never seen a contractor show up with bad pictures.
Granite countertop details and how long will it take
In order to compare fabricators pricing you must know exactly what your getting.
